Questions about faux grasscloth
- Is it real grasscloth?
- No. It is a print of a grasscloth texture on a smooth material: paste-the-wall non-woven or peel-and-stick fabric. You see the weave; you do not feel raised fibres. If you want the hand-feel of real sisal or jute, real grasscloth is the right choice.
- Why choose a printed grasscloth look?
- Real grasscloth is woven by hand, so neighbouring strips often differ in shade and the seams show; that is part of its character. A print comes out of one run for the whole wall, so the colour matches across the seams, and the surface wipes with a damp cloth.
- Can it go in a bathroom?
- The paste-the-wall non-woven is the one we suggest for a bathroom with good ventilation. Peel-and-stick needs smooth, cured paint and does not suit a bathroom with a shower.
- How do I see the texture before ordering a wall?
- Order a 12×12 inch sample of the actual design on the actual material. What you pay for samples comes off the wall you order.
